Nick Kyrgios ends 2014 season, admits being “emotionally spent”

Australian Nick Kyrgios announced that he will be ending his 2014 following his stint at the Malaysian Open, Kuala Lumpur last week, stating that he’s “emotionally spent” from the competition.

“I’ve pulled out of the other tournaments because I’m emotionally spent,” the 51st-ranked teen said. “Physically I’ve probably only got enough left for one more tournament. I just want to sit back and take a break from everything.”

Kyrgios lost his opening round match in Kuala Lumpur and he’s already withdrawn his participation at premier events in Tokyo, Stockholm and Vienna.

The 19-year old made waves at Wimbledon earlier this year when he defeated Rafael Nadal and made it all the way to the quarterfinals and barged his way in the world’s top 60.

He will be participating at the International Tennis Premier (ITPL) during the off season in November and will prepare for the lucrative Australian hard court season which takes place during the first quarter of 2015.
