Rafael Nadal cites healh reasons for IPTL withdrawal

World number two Rafael Nadal has withdrawn his participation at the inaugural International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) which will take place in November, citing health reasons. This development was posted by Mahesh Bhupathi, a veteran Indian tennis player, on Monday via Twitter. The IPTL later confirmed this development.

The 28-year old Spaniard missed the North American hardcourt season due to an injured right wrist. He was unable to defend the US Open title in the process. He’s currently participating at the China Open this week.

The IPTL, a city-based team tennis competition, will be staged in the Philippines, United Arab Emirates, India and Singapore between November 28 and December 13.
