US Open champion Flavia Pennetta played her last match of her professional career on Thursday after her defeat from Russian Maria Sharapova at the WTA Finals Singapore.
After winning her first Grand Slam singles title at Flushing Meadows a month ago, Pennetta revealed that she will be stepping away from the game by the end of the season – which means that the Singapore tournament would be her last.
