On the women’s side, top-ranked Serena Williams once again asserted her dominance over rival Maria Sharapova with a straight sets victory, albeit a rather close one than their previous encounters. Williams will have an opportunity to tie Steffi Graf in the most number of Grand Slam singles title with a title victory in two weeks time.
