US Open Throwback: Roger Federer defeats Novak Djokovic in 2007 final

Fresh from winning his fifth Wimbledon title, Roger Federer came to New York brimming with confidence but at the same time feeling the pressure of clinching his fourth consecutive US Open title.

In the final, the Swiss Maestro found himself facing a then 20-year old Serbian named Novak Djokovic. This was Djokovic’s first Grand Slam final and this impressive run was backed by a strong North American hardcourt season which included defeating Federer at the Montreal Masters.

In the end, it was Federer who won the battle in three close sets: 7-6(4), 7-6, 6-4.
