While the US Open men’s semifinals feature the same final four at the Rogers Cup, the women’s final will feature the same finalists at the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati last month. World number two Angelique Kerber will attempt to break free from the back to back runner-up finishes at the Olympics and Cincinnati and clinch her second career Grand Slam title after winning her first earlier this year at the Australian Open in Melbourne. Cincinnati champion Karolina Pliskova of Czech Republic has never gone past the third round of a Grand Slam event before now. She’s continued her momentum in New York and even took out 22-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams in the semifinals.
