Will Venus Williams pull out of Wimbledon?

Questions have been swirling as to whether five-time champion Venus Williams will participate at next week’s Wimbledon Championships. This surfaced when the American tennis superstar was being blamed in the fatal car crash that killed a 78-year old man. As of update, the late man’s family has sued the American tennis star for the accident.

The former world number one’s publicist confirmed via an email to The Associated Press on Friday that Williams is still slated to compete at the All England Club. She’s currently in London as of press time and is preparing for this year’s third Grand Slam event which starts on Monday, July 3. Venus is seeded 10th in what will be her 20th Wimbledon tournament.

The American reportedly is not scheduled to appear in any pre-tournament press conferences during the weekend. She’s slated to face Belgium’s Elise Mertens in the first round following the unveiling of the draw on Friday.

Williams won the Wimbledon Championships in 2000, 2001, 2005, 2007 and 2008.
