The All England Club has increased its financial commitment resulting to higher prize money for the winners and even the losers from earlier rounds will get significantly higher pay than the previous years.

The 131st edition of the Wimbledon Championships takes place from July 3 to 16, 2017 at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club at Church Road SW19, Wimbledon, London, United Kingdom. The third Grand Slam event of the season will be contested on outdoor grass courts and will feature competitions in singles, doubles and mixed doubles for both professional, juniors and wheelchair tennis players. World number one and defending champion Andy Murray heads a stellar men’s field followed by former champions Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. In the women’s side, world number one and last year’s finalist Angelique Kerber is the top seed followed by Simona Halep, Karolina Pliskova and Elina Svitolina. Defending champion Serena Williams won’t be competing due to her pregnancy. The 2016 prize money total was £ 28.1 million and has increased by 12.5% to £ 31.6 million this season.
