Gerry Weber Open: Federer withdraws from Halle tourney »

After a morale-boosting 14th Grand Slam win at the French Open last weekend, Swiss world number 2 Roger Federer withdrew his participation in this year’s Gerry Weber Open which is currently taking place this week. He reasoned that he’s too “exhausted” and “overwhelmed” after finally winning the elusive Slam.

The Halle tourney always served as Federer’s warm-up tournament leading to the third slam of the year – Wimbledon. He’s won the title five times and in four of those instances, he went on to win the grasscourt Slam.
