Andy Roddick pulls out of ATP World Tour finals due to injury

World number six Andy Roddick has decided to pull out of next week’s Barclays World Tour Finals due to knee injury. It can be remembered that Roddick also pulled out of last year’s year-end event after sustaining an injury after playing one match.

“I’m really disappointed. I love playing in London and I’ve heard so many good things about the venue. I have not fully recovered from my knee injury and I won’t be able to compete. One of my goals in 2010 will be to qualify for this event again,” Roddick said in a statement.

First alternate Robin Soderling, this year’s French Open finalist, officially became part of the eight-man singles lineup after Roddick’s withdrawal. France’s Jo-Wilfried Tsonga was named first alternate.
