Asian Games 2010 Tennis: India, Chinese Taipei secure two gold medals each

The tennis events of the Asian Games 2010, currently being held at Guangzhou, China concluded with powerhouse countries India and Chinese Taipei securing two golds each at this popular event. In Men’s singles, second-seed SK Devvarman of India defeated top-seed Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan 6-1, 6-2. In men’s doubles, Devvarman teamed up of SK Singh to beat Z Li and M Gong of China 6-3 6-7, 1-0.

Chinese Taipei definitely showed that it is currently producing some of the best Asian tennis players today. It was an all Chinese Taipei affair at the women’s doubles final with CJ Chuang and YJ Chan beating compatriots S Hsieh and KC Chang. In mixed doubles final, TH Yang and YJ Chan defeated Vishnu Vardan and Sania Mirza of INdia 4-6, 6-1, 1-0.

The ladies singles final was contested between fourth-seed Shuai Peng of China and third-seed Akgul Amanmuradova of Uzbekistan. It was Peng who prevailed with a 7-5, 6-2 score line.
