The Barcelona Open 2011 will celebrate its 59th edition from April 18 to 24, 2011. The ATP World Tour 500 claycourt tournament will be staged at the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona, the oldest Spanish tennis club. Being one of the most important tennis events in Spain, top players from Spain such as world number one Rafael Nadal, number six David Ferrer, Nicolas Almagro and others are scheduled to take part in this claycourt tournament.
The € 1,995,000 event was well-contested last year with Spain’s Fernando Verdasco clinching the men’s singles title and Daniel Nestor – Nenad Zimonjic winning the doubles event. Tournament top seed Rafael Nadal was the winner of Barcelona Open from 2005 to 2009 and is raring to reclaim the title this year.
