The BNP Paribas Open 2012 is the first of nine ATP 1000 events of the season. It is also a dual gender event that takes place at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. Both the men’s and women’s singles winners this year will receive $1 million each, the biggest prize payout outside of the Grand Slam events.
The defending champions at Indian Wells are Novak Djokovic and Caroline Wozniacki.
