Tennis great Boris Becker set to marry former gf

Millions of television viewers in Germany were surprised to see an unexpected announcement made by tennis great Boris Becker in a game show. Becker announced that he’s set to marry his former girlfriend this year.

According to reports, more than 9 million viewers were tuned in on the game show “You Bet..?” which featured the 41-year old former world number one and Dutch model Lilly Kerssenberg as guests.

“Last summer I went a bit off track but she took me back. Now I don’t want to let her go,” Becker said during the show.

It was reported that the six-time Grand Slam champion and Kerssenberg broke off their engagement in 2007 after a two-year relationship. Last year, Becker surprised the public when he announced his engagement to jewelry designer Sandy Meyer-Woelden after a whirlwind romance, the relationship, assumingly, also ended.

Becker, also an Olympic gold medalist, announced that the wedding will take place at a resort in Switzerland this coming June. However, the media stated its skepticism on this latest development.

The German player gained global popularity in tennis after winning the 1985 Wimbledon at the age of 17. He went on to win two more Wimbledon, two Australian Open and one US Open titles at the course of his lustrous career.

His life after tennis has gotten so much media coverage due to issues ranging from a bitter divorce to paternity claims. He’s currently an active poker player.
