Defending champion Serena Williams avoided an upset-marred quarterfinal singles matches at the Wimbledon 2010 Ladies Singles Championships at the All England Club, cruising to the semifinals after defeating China’s Li Na. Her older sister, Venus Williams, crashed out in the final eight after being defeated by unseeded Bulgarian Tsvetana Pironkova.
This may seem like an easy semifinal match for the world number one, facing the 62nd-ranked player Kvitova in the semifinal stage. However, with a lot of surprise upsets this past fortnight, anything can pretty much happen.
