The ATP 500 Dubai Tennis Championships 2011 concludes on Saturday with a blockbuster title match between world number two Roger Federer and two-time defending champion Novak Djokovic.
Federer cruised to the final after dominating Frenchman Richard Gasquet in the semifinals while Djokovic forced a third set from Czech Republic’s Tomas Berdych before the latter retired with a thigh injury.
Djokovic, who won his second Grand Slam title at the Australian Open last month, looks to win two in a row against Federer. At the Australian Open 2011, Djokovic defeated the Swiss star in the semifinals en route to the title.
“I lost maybe three times before that to him. So I don’t think that he will think too much about that match, because he hasn’t lost that often in the last five, six years in Grand Slams,” Djokovic said.
“He’s been playing well. Maybe a bit of an up and down performance here this last week, but he’s been playing some day matches, some night matches against some tricky opponents, and that obviously makes it harder,” Federer said.
