The $220,000 Monterrey Open 2011 event is headlined by Jelena Jankovic, who just turned 26 this week. It can be remembered that she was bundled out of this tournament last year in the first round, a sad way to spend her 25th birthday. This time, she will be facing a claycourt specialist in the first round – recent Bogota champion Lourdes Dominguez Lino.
Aside from Jankovic, defending champion Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova will take part in this event including Vanie King and Melanie Oudin.
