Bryans win fourth Mutua Madrid Open title

Brothers Mike and Bob Bryan solidified their hold atop the ATP Doubles rankings after successfully defending the Mutua Madrid Open men’s doubles title. This is their fourth victory in Madrid (2006, 2007, 2010, 2011).

The Bryans beat sixth-seeds Nenad Zimonjic and Michael Llodra to win their 71st ATP World Tour title, 19 of those titles at ATP Masters 1000 level.

With this victory, the Bryans have set themselves as the frontrunners to qualify for the prestigious year-end Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London.

“We’re really happy. We were fortunate to squeak through yesterday’s match against Querrey and Isner, when we had a crazy match point. We felt like we had no pressure today and I thought we played one of our best matches of the tournament,” Mike Bryan said.

“We got through a tight one yesterday and today we felt like we were playing with the house chips. We played very aggressive today. We love Madrid; the conditions are very light, it suits our game well,” his brother Bryan added.
