Kim Clijsters starts training for Roland Garros 2011

World number two Kim Clijsters has reportedly started training for the French Open 2011. Belgian media reported that Clijsters was seen doing endurance training with trainer Sam Verslegers this week. The Australian Open 2011 champion took time off from the tour after suffering a torn ligament at a wedding recently.

The former world number one is attempting to win Roland Garros and Wimbledon, two Grand Slam events which she has yet to win. The four-time Grand Slam champion has made a remarkable comeback in 2009 after a two-year break.

“This week was mainly endurance training and the ankle has responded well. Next week we’ll begin movements that you need for tennis and if everything goes well by the end of the week she can start tennis training,” Verslegers was quoted as saying.
