World number two Novak Djokovic won the Mutua Madrid Open 2011 Men’s Singles final after beating top-ranked Rafael Nadal in straight sets 7-5, 6-4.
Djokovic produced 26 winners against Nadal’s 17 and was in his element throughout the game.
The Novak Djokovic vs Rafael Nadal Mutua Madrid Open 2011 final was a highly anticipated encounter as both players are enjoying their respective winning streaks and one came to an end after the match.
Nadal won 37 consecutive claycourt matches while Djokovic was riding on a 33-match win streak which started since late 2010. He’s still unbeaten this 2011 season and is now a clear favorite to win the Roland Garros 2011 tournament.
He had already beaten Nadal three times this year- all in ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Final: Indian Wells, Miami and Madrid.
