China’s Li Na reached the French Open 2011 quarterfinals, setting another record as the first Chinese player to reach the final eight at the Roland Garros. The sixth-seeded player beat Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic 2-6, 6-1, 6-3.
At the post-match interview, the Chinese star joked that her husband leaving the court may have contributed to her victory,
“I don’t know what happened. Maybe it’s just my husband left and I was able to win six games in a row,” Li said. She won the final six games to close out the match.
Her next opponent is Victoria Azarenka of Belarus.
