Germany’s Kohlschreiber captures Gerry Weber Open 2011 title

Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany clinched his third career ATP Tour title on Sunday after beating compatriot Philipp Petzschner in the final of the Gerry Weber Open 2011.

Petzschner retired from the match due to back pain while trailing 7-6, 2-0.

“I know that the whole week went absolutely super for me. This was one of the best weeks of the year and of my career,” Kohlschreiber said after the match.

Kohlschreiber became the fifth German player to win the local tournament. The previous German winner was Tommy Haas in 2009.
