World number three Roger Federer continues his French Open 2011 campaign after beating Frenchman Gael Monfils 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 on Tuesday. The 16-time Grand Slam champion has yet to lose a set at the Roland Garros. The Swiss star will face Serbia’s Novak Djokovic in the semifinals.
The Federer vs Djokovic Roland Garros 2011 semifinal match is a highly anticipated event because this will determine whether Djokovic’s 41-0 unbeaten streak this season will come to an end. If the Serbian prevails in the match, he will become the new world number one next week.
Federer was the last one to have beaten Djokovic before the latter went on to a 43-0 win streak (adding up two Davis Cup victories late last season).
