World number three Roger Federer has confirmed via his official Facebook account that he will be taking part in the Davis Cup 2011 match against Portugal this weekend. This marks his first return to this event since September 2009 where he helped his country win against Italy 3-2.
Switzerland was relegated from the World Group last year which prompted Federer to make a commitment to help his team make a return to the elite World Group.
“I’m really looking forward to helping Switzerland begin the process of getting back into the World Group,” Federer wrote.
