2011 US Open Qualifying Tournament begins on August 23

The 2011 US Open qualifying tournament begins on Tuesday, August 23 and tennis fans everywhere will have a chance to watch up-and-coming and veteran players attempting to make it to the main draw of the last Grand Slam tournament of the year for free at the venue.

The 2011 US Open qualifying tournament features 128 men and 128 women tennis players competing for the 32 slots in the singles main draw (16 men, 16 women). The qualifying tournament ends on Friday, August 26.

Fans are also invited to visit the venue on Sunday, August 28 as admission is also free. There are several activities lined up on the eve of the 2011 US Open main draw matches and the best tennis stars in the world can be seen practicing for this hardcourt Slam tournament.

“The USTA is excited to introduce an entirely new experience for our devoted fans of the US Open,” said Danny Zausner, Managing Director of USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
