The Cincinnati Open 2011 Women’s Title will be contested by fourth-seeded Maria Sharapova of Russia and Serbia’s Jelena Jankovic after both players outlasted their semifinal opponents on Saturday.
Sharapova, a finalist last year, beat compatriot Vera Zvonareva 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 while Jankovic beat Germany’s Andrea Petkovic 7-6, 6-4. Sharapova is aiming for her second tournament title of the season. She won a Premier claycourt title in Rome earlier this year. Jankovic is aiming for her first title since Indian Wells last year.
