Sabine Lisicki wins inaugural Texas Open

Germany’s Sabine Lisicki won the inaugural Texas Open on Saturday after beating French qualifier Aravane Rezai 6-2, 6-1. The fifth-seeded star entered the tournament ranked 23rd and with the title win she’s assured of a place in the world’s top 20 once the new rankings come out on Monday.

Lisicki was ranked out of the world’s top 200 by the start of the year due to an injury lay-off but has made impressive progress, including a semifinal finish at the Wimbledon tournament in July.
