Roger Federer beats Tsonga; wins 2011 Paris Masters title

Switzerland’s Roger Federer continued his winning streak after beating local bet Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 61 76 to win his first Paris Masters title on Sunday.

The third-seeded player is now just one shy of Rafael Nadal’s record of 19 Masters title after the Sunday’s victory. Federer also became only the second player to have won titles in Roland Garros and Bercy – two top level men’s ATP tournaments held in Paris.

“I’m very happy with my performance today. I’m amazed by how well I play,” Federer said, now enjoying a 12 match win streak which also saw him win the Swiss Basel Indoors tournament last weekend.
The Paris Masters title is Federer’s 69th career title. He also increased his career wins to 802.

The 16-time Grand Slam champion is now setting his sights at the year-end ATP World Tour Finals which begins on November 20 in London. He is the defending champion of the elite tournament.
