Serena, Venus Williams aspire to defend Olympic doubles title in London

Multiple Grand Slam-winning sisters Venus and Serena Williams are all set to defend their Olympic tennis doubles titles in London next year. They won the event at the 2000 Sydney and 2008 Beijing Games. They were unable to defend the title at 2004 Athens Games because Serena had a knee injury.

“We’re the defending champion and we want to defend our title and I don’t see why we wouldn’t,” Serena said.

“This is a good preview to the Olympics, we both want to play. So this is a great, great time for us, so exciting,” she added.

Aside from their three Olympic doubles golds, older sister Venus Williams won the singles gold medal in Sydney.
