Two-time Australian Open runner-up Andy Murray will meet Kei Nishikori of Japan at the quarterfinals of the 2012 Australian Open tournament. Murray is still searching for his first Grand Slam title and will have to get past Nishikori in order to continue his quest. Nishikori, ranked 26th, reached the Grand Slam quarterfinal stage for the first time and is expected to be part of the world’s top 20 in next week’s rankings.
Murray leads the head-to-head series against Nishikori with 1-0. Their first meeting was in the semifinals of the 2011 Shanghai Masters where Murray won in straight sets and went on to win the title.
