Thirteen-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams confirmed via her official Twitter account that she’ll be making her return in WTA competition via the Sony Ericsson Open 2012 tournament in Miami, Florida.
While other top WTA stars are competing at the BNP Paribas Open 2012 tournament in Indian Wells, California, Williams is said to be preparing for her “home” tournament, the event that she won five times (2002, 2003, 2004, 2007 and 2008). Her older sister, Venus, is also slated to make a comeback in the tournament having been granted with a wildcard.
The sisters have expectedly skipped the Indian Wells tournament.
