Defending Olympic tennis singles champion Rafael Nadal will carry the flag for Spain during the opening ceremonies of the Summer Games in London this year.
Nadal won the singles gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, beating Chile’s Fernando Gonzalez. With the gold medal, Nadal joined Andre Agassi as the only male tennis players on tour to achieve a career Golden Slam (winning at least one singles title in four Grand Slam events and Olympic gold medal).
Current number one Novak Djokovic was also chosen to bear the flag for Serbia.
