Roland Garros 2012: Rafael Nadal overwhelms Ferrer to reach seventh French Open final

World number two Rafael Nadal was the first to progress to the 2012 Roland Garros final after overwhelming compatriot and world number 6 David Ferrer in the first semifinal match on Friday. Nadal was simply the better player amongst the claycourt specialists, blasting past Ferrer in straight sets 6-2, 6-2, 6-1. Ferrer has lost his past 13 matches on clay against Nadal (including this one).

Nadal is aiming to be the first player to win seven Roland Garros titles. He has compiled 51-1 win-loss record at this prestigious claycourt Slam with his only loss coming in 2009 against two-time Roland Garros finalist Robin Soderling. Last year, Nadal beat 2009 champion Roger Federer to earn his sixth French Open title.
