The Sharapova vs Kirilenko Olympics 2012 Ladies Semifinal match will be an all-Russian affair with Sharapova leading their head-to-head series at 3-2. The one-time doubles partners will be squaring off with what could be an important match in their careers. Maria Sharapova is one of the two female tennis players at this year’s Olympics that could complete a career Golden Slam – the other one being Serena Williams who’s in the other semifinal.
The Russian stars have never played against each other on grass but considering Sharapova’s impressive record here at the All England Club, a 2004 Wimbledon trophy and runner-up finish last year, she’s the best bet to win this match and will progress to the gold medal match against either Serena Williams or Victoria Azarenka.
