Serena Williams certain to reclaim number one ranking again

Serena Williams said that it will be only a matter of time before she can reclaim the top ranking again, adding that she’s looking forward for the 2013 Australian Open.

The Williams sisters are currently in Africa for a couple of exhibition matches. In Lagos, Nigeria, Serena lost to elder sister Venus in their match.

“I’m already thinking of the Australian Open,” she said.

“I’m constantly thinking of Grand Slams,” the 15-time Grand Slam champion added.

The sisters will face each other once more in a second exhibition match in Johannesburg on Sunday. A sellout crowd of 4,000 fans are expected to be in the event.

Serena Williams ended the 2012 season as world number despite winning the Wimbledon, London Olympics, US Open and the year-end WTA Championships. However, she’s not thinking much about the rankings but more on victories in Grand Slam events.

“I’m not thinking about that so much. For me, I’d rather have Grand Slams and victories. I’ve been No. 1 before and believe me, I’ll be No. 1 again. It’s just a matter of time,” she said.
