Australian Open 2013: Novak Djokovic squeaks past Stan Wawrinka to reach quarterfinals

The Australian Open 2013 Fourth Round Match between Novak Djokovic vs Stanislas Wawrinka became a marathon match that had gone way past midnight at Rod Laver Arena on Saturday. After all was said and done, it was three-time champion Novak Djokovic who prevailed with a score of 1-6, 7-5, 6-4, 6-7, 12-10.

Djokovic looked in trouble during the first two sets, with Wawrinka racing to a 6-1, 5-2 lead before the world number one made his comeback to clinch the second set 7-5 and the third set 6-4. Wawrinka won the tiebreaker in the fourth set to force a fifth and deciding set.

Wawrinka posted more aces than Djokovic with 16 to 7 and even has more winners 69 to 51. But Djokovic won the crucial points to seal the victory.
