Heineken Open 2013 Men’s Final: David Ferrer vs Philipp Kohlschreiber

It’s going to be a battle between Spain and Germany in the final of the Heineken Open 2013 tournament in Auckland, New Zealand. World number five David Ferrer of Spain will meet German star Philipp Kohlschreiber in Saturday’s final. Both players have hoisted the trophy in this tournament with Kohlschreiber winning the event in 2008 while Ferrer is a two-time defending champion here.

Ferrer defeated wild card Gael Monfils in straight sets in the semifinals while Kohlschreiber outlasted fourth-seeded Sam Querrey in the other semifinal.

“At the beginning of the season, it’s the best thing after a long period of practising, that you achieve some success in the tournaments,” said Kohlschreiber.

“It feels great to be here. I really like the conditions. Every match, I’ve played a little bit better the next day and I hope to continue in tomorrow’s final,” he added.

Ferrer has a 6-3 head to head series lead over Kohlschreiber.
