Radwanska clinches Apia Sydney International with double bagel victory over Cibulkova

World number four Agnieszka Radwanska is sending a strong message to those who are ranked higher than her that she’s a big threat by winning her second consecutive title this 2013 season. The 23-year old won the Apia Sydney International title with a 6-0, 6-0 demolition of Slovakian Dominika Cibulkova. With her perfect win streak still intact, the young Polish tennis star said that she can win Grand Slam titles by believing that she can do it.

“Of course now wherever I go I just always think I can win it,” she said.

“I think Melbourne is also that kind of tournament. I think being Top 10, Top 5 already for a couple years, I think it means that I can also win the Grand Slam,” she added.

Meanwhile, Cibulkova revealed that she was trying to make sense on how she lost the match in an embarrasing fashion.

“When I lost that 1-0 again in the second set, I just completely kind of break down and stop thinking about what I have to do and how to play well,” she said.

“I was just thinking, ‘Oh, my God, what is happening?’ I was not choking, but I was starting to think about the score. Until then I had some strategy that I want to do. Now it’s like the score that I didn’t want to be in. After I stopped thinking and I was just thinking about the score all the time. After I just wanted to stay in a rally with her, but it’s just not something I’m used to. I’m just start to play with less power, and that’s not where I feel comfortable. Then I just didn’t want to do the mistakes and then I was doing even more mistakes. It was just like this, going round [in a spiral],” she added.

Both players will be in Melbourne for the Australian Open 2013 tournament which begins on January 14.
