Serena Williams wins 2013 Brisbane International title

Serena Williams left a message to everyone that she’s the player to beat at the 2013 Australian Open when she won her 47th career title at the Brisbane International tournament on Sunday. The 31-year old American defeated Russia’s Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in straight sets 6-2, 6-1. The 15-time Grand Slam champion sealed the victory in 51 minutes.

Williams did not break a sweat in the semifinals after world number one Victoria Azarenka pulled out of their match due to toe injury.

The American tennis superstar is aiming to win her sixth Australian Open title which starts on January 14. Her last victory in Melbourne was in 2010.

Brisbane International is part of the Australian Open Series.
