Defending BNP Paribas Open – Indian Wells champion Roger Federer is projected to meet rival Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinals of this event which could be the toughest test for the 17-time Grand Slam champion. Prior to facing Nadal, the Swiss star could meet last year’s runner-up John Isner in the fourth round.
We’ve gotten used to see Federer battling against Nadal in either the semifinals or final of a tennis event but with Nadal’s number five seeding, due to inactivity on the tour for several months, the two tennis superstars are projected to meet in the final eight stage of a tournament, a first for a long time.
Federer is seeded second at the Indian Wells tournament. The Swiss maestro has won this title four times (2004, 2005, 2006, 2012), the only player to do so. Nadal is a two-time champion at this hardcourt tournament, which has been dubbed as the Fifth Grand Slam event.
