Al Jazeera guns for Tennis Channel acquisition

Qatari media network Al Jazeera is reportedly interested in acquiring Tennis Channel in a bid to reach a wider audience in the United States.

According to a report from New York Post, the Qatar-based network is “very focused on their worldwide sports empire, through Al Jazeera Amercas and Paris Saint-Germain,” quoting a source that’s familiar with the potential take-over.

Al Jazeera currently has an affiliate called BeIN Sport which is carried by DirecTV, Dish and Comcast Systems. In January this year, the media giant bought Current TV for half a billion dollars.
