Roger Federer admits that Nadal still remains French Open favorite

World number three Roger Federer still has a positive outlook despite having lost the Internazionali BNL d’Italia or Rome Masters 2013 final against rival Rafael Nadal. Federer is now a three-time finalist at this prestigious claycourt event.

“I am playing well and I am healthy, so I have everything to play for next week [ahead of Roland Garros],” said Federer. “This week was good to get an idea about what is working.”

Federer will be traveling to Paris for the 2013 Roland Garros tournament and he knows he’s not the favorite to win this claycourt Slam event. He admitted that Nadal is “the favorite for Roland Garros,” considering that the Spaniard only lost once in this event.

“Novak has beaten Rafa once in Monaco, so he knows how to win, but only Robin Soderling has beaten him in Paris. It will be difficult.”

Federer has yet to win an ATP World Tour title this season. Meanwhile, Nadal is on a hot streak of title wins, having won six out of eight tournaments he had participated in this season. Nadal is currently at the top of the year-end ATP World Tour rankings.
