Former Roland Garros champ Yannick Noah receives official Hall of Fame ring

To commemorate his title run at the 1983 Roland Garros, Frenchman Yannick Noah was given an official Hall of Fame ring.

“Yannick Noah is an integral part of France’s rich tennis history, and it was very fitting to present his Hall of Fame ring here at Roland Garros where he had such a tremendous and iconic victory 30 years ago,” said Christopher E. Clouser, chairman of the International Tennis Hall of Fame. It was Clouser who presented the Frenchman with the ring.

The personalized Hall of Fame rings have been bestowed since 2011 and are being given to tennis legends as a token for their inclusion in the Hall of Fame. Yannick Noah was inducted in 2005.

There hasn’t been a Frenchman who has won the Roland Garros title since Noah did it in 1983. There’s a lone hope as of today with Jo-Wilfried Tsonga advancing to the semifinals at this year’s French Open. Tsonga will face David Ferrer for a place in the final on Friday.
