Novak Djokovic, Serena Williams snag top seedings at Cincinnati Open

Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams have been named as the top seeds of the Western & Southern Open which takes place from August 10 to 18 at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Djokovic is a four-time finalist at the Cincinnati Masters. The Serbian tennis superstar is currently on his 93rd week at the top of the rankings and he’s aiming to win this event for the first time. Should he succeed, he will become the only ATP player to complete a feat of winning at least one of the nine Masters 1000 events in the ATP calendar. Two-time champion Andy Murray will be the second seed at this event. Defending champion Roger Federer will be seeded fifth.

On the women’s side, 31-year old Serena Williams heads a star-studded field which includes number two Victoria Azarenka and number three Maria Sharapova.

The world’s top 16 in the ATP Tour and WTA Tour as of this week’s rankings are expected to be at the event.
