World number four David Ferrer has been silently cruising his way at the US Open Tennis Championships, making his way to the fourth round with a four set victory over qualifier Mikhail Kukushkin of Kazakhstan 6-4, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. Up next for Ferrer will be 18th-seed Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia.
Ferrer is a two-time semifinalist in New York – reaching this far in 2007 and last year. He lost both of these matches to Novak Djokovic.
The fourth-seed Spaniard has a 4-1 head to head series lead over Tipsarevic.
