Martina Hingis ends 2013 season, unsure whether she’ll compete in 2014

Tennis legend Martina Hingis has reportedly ended her 2013 season and it’s yet to be known whether she will continue her comeback journey during the 2014 season.

The former top-ranked player, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame earlier this year, has opted to make a comeback at the WTA Tour by competing in doubles events. However, she and partner Daniela Hantuchova did not go beyond second round of any of the five tournaments they’ve participated, including the US Open where they lost in the opening round.

Hingis stated after her US Open loss that she’ll be participating in tournaments in Asia, specifically in Tokyo and Beijing but the Swiss miss already withdrew her participation in Tokyo and it will be unlikely that she’ll make it in Beijing as well. Despite the withdrawal, Hingis will still make an appearance in Tokyo to take part in the 30th anniversary of the Toray Pan Pacific Open.
