Andy Murray to be bestowed with OBE from Prince William

British tennis star Andy Murray is slated to receive the Order of the British Empire (OBE) honors from the Duke of Cambridge Prince William, this week. This was shared by Royal Sources, stating that Murray is among a number of distinguished personalities to receive this prestigious honor.

The Order of the British Empire (OBE) started in June 4, 1917 and was spearheaded by King George V. Every year, about 25 ceremonies of this nature are being staged and mostly taking place at the Buckingham Palace. The Queen or the Prince of Wales are currently the ones bestowing the honor but since of old age, this task is now being given to Prince William.

Media reports revealed that Prince Williams has been practicing hard in terms of properly handling the sword and pinning the medals to the recipients.

“It is quite a strenuous exercise to hand out the medals without mistakes, engage people in conversation and to keep bending down” a royal source was quoted.

According to reports, this will be the second time that Murray will be bestowed this honor for his outstanding services in sports. Murray became the first male player from Britain in the past 77-years to win the Wimbledon 2013 title after he defeated Novak Djokovic.
