Donald Young wins ATP Challenger title in Napa Valley

American tennis player Donald Young secured an ATP Challenger-level title on Sunday after he defeated Matthew Ebden of Australia in Napa Valley. Young lost the first set but gained momentum to secure the second and deciding sets 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.

“I was a little freer in the end overall just a tough match. At this level, I was privileged to be able to win those few points and happy to come out on top, it could’ve gone either way at the end,” he said.

As for Ebden, the loss was disappointing considering that he had opportunities to turn the match to his favor.

“It’s tough – being up a set in the break, I thought I was in control. Then the clouds moved in and it got a little colder, that changed a lot for me. Unfortunately I made a few errors and gave Donald some chances to make points and he took them,” the Australian said.

The doubles event was won by John-Patrick Smith of Australia and Bobby Reynolds of United States.
