Jo-Wilfried Tsonga looks forward to injury-free seasons ahead

World number 10 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France is looking forward to the 2014 season and hopes that he will remain injury free in order to have greater chances of posting good results. The Frenchman, who lost in the second round of Paris Masters last month, was not able to qualify as a main contender at the ATP World Tour Finals in London. However, he was still in London as an alternate.

“First and foremost I want to remain injury-free. It is the most important thing for me for the moment. If I can play a full season, then the results will come. This year was frustrating but I am looking ahead to 2014,” Tsonga said.

Tsonga has signed up to be part of the Mubadala World Tennis Championship exhibition tournament in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emitates which will take place from December 26 to 28.

“The Mubadala Championship is a good environment to work on your game following a couple weeks of conditioning and tennis training,” Tsonga said. “The quality is extremely high, with most of the world’s best players. It is really great, and unique, to have so many talents in the same location outside of a Grand Slam event.”
