Roger Federer may not hire another coach, unsure to play Davis Cup in 2014

World number six Roger Federer said that he’s not sure if he will be getting another coach that will be working with Swiss Davis Cup captain Severin Luthi. Luthi has been coaching Federer for years. Federer has ended the coaching partnership with American coach Paul Annacone during the fall this year.

“In Severin, I still have a coach who has been extremely helpful for me for a long time,” Federer said in a recent interview that was featured at the Credit Suisse website. “But I don’t know if he can or wants to be on the road with me for 40 weeks next year. At the moment, I don’t know if I am going to appoint a new coach at all. I’m very happy with my team.”

The Swiss tennis superstar said that he’s not sure if he will participate in his team’s matches at the Davis Cup in 2014. Switzerland will face Serbia in Novi Sade from January 31 to February 2. Federer did not play in Davis Cup this year.

“In the next few weeks I will make a decision about the Davis Cup. But at the moment I have no idea what it will be.”
